What is hot foiling?

The rise of AI is causing a resurgence of bespoke experiences, and with that the yearn to lean into events and moments of human connection. And though calligraphy is an art form that has been around for thousands of years, the live event industry is somewhat new(ish). That is, the idea that you can get something customized with calligraphy by a human (ahem, hopefully us!) during a brand activation or product launch.
And though live calligraphy is trending, so are some other more modern services that can elevate any occasion. Hot foiling is one of them.
What is hot foiling?
Hot foiling is the technique of transferring colored foil into a surface through the process of heat. Calligraphers like us do this by hand — which means, yes, we write out the lettering freehand with a hot tool! See exhibit A below:

What items can you hot foil?
I knew you would ask this! We are able to foil most real and PU leathers. Think notebooks, journals, leather bookmarks, leather keychains, dog collars and many, many, many, more options.
What is the proCess of hot foil?
The process (and set-up) are simple. No large clunky loud machines. We only use a heat pen and some foil! The process takes minutes, and the result is something shimmery that is permanently bonded. Which is why we offer this service for all kinds of events. We are able to accommodate a high-volume of guests who can take home a golden keepsake that can last way beyond the event itself.
