Working as an extension of your team, The Handsome Ink Way.
High-touch experiences are not for everyone, but what does that actually mean?
It means that live calligraphy is not for every event. It’s for the clients who already get it: that a short window of live personalization can leave an unspoken, lasting takeaway.
Recently at an event, I let someone borrow my pen for their penmanship purpose. It wasn’t just any pen, it was a Pentel 1.0mm Tip Hybrid Gel Grip Dx Metallic Gold one. If you know these, you know they’re versatile, lovely to write with and incredibly smooth and satisfying on paper (not sponsored, btw!).
After a short bout of 5 minutes, I went on looking for my pen as I realized the person had left with it! Thankfully I located the person…who could not find my pen!! Do not worry reader, there is a happy ending. After frantically searching for a couple of minutes, the pen was secured.
And it got me thinking—this pen, this very small object that held value in my world, was a pedestrian item in someone else’s hands. Not wrong. Just a different POV in the ways we value different things. Experiences like the ones we provide for our partners are the same way. To us, and to the clients who hire us, live calligraphy is precious. To someone else, it can look like “just a pen at a table.” And we get that, too.
As live artists, we absolutely know the time and effort that goes into preparing a curated production of on-site engraving. It’s not just the live on-site time, it’s the hours of preparation, not to mention the years of studying the art of calligraphy that culminates into a 2-hour event where guests can be mesmerized with live artistry. Our clients get that. They know that this short experience will bring a lasting impression on their guests. It’s not just about the 2 hours of the actual event. It’s the unspoken takeaway of an heirloom keepsake and the connection between the experience that guests come away with with an ultimately priceless sticker.
And when we get to work with clients who get that, it’s fireworks, baby (the good kind). Having a client on board that cherishes the value of an experience of live calligraphy takes the event to the next level.
At a recent high-volume engraving event, I joked to myself: How many calligraphers does it take to service 400 guests? The answer is not just the calligraphers. It’s the calligraphers, plus a booking team on the other side that gets in the weeds during the event by looking at all the details PLUS and an event planner that fully supports the full team. That is when high-touch actually works.
At the end of the day, we want to feel like our team is an extension of yours. That way, we are more than contractors—we are trusted teammates, ready, willing, and able to make the best guest experience by your side.
High-touch experiences are not for everyone. But, if that sounds like the kind of partnership you want to explore, reach out via our contact form. Tell us the date, the guest count, and what you want guests to leave holding. This way, we can talk about expanding your team with two seasoned calligraphers for your upcoming event. And perhaps, we’ll even get to experience fireworks together 🎆.
